Similar Photo Cleaner is a classic PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program). You can find it advertised as a useful app that can help you in the removal of multiple photocopies, all by using its automated settings. It promises to clean upto GBs disk storage fast, and also to provide you with an organized photo library.

Do not fall for these lies. In reality, this application follows orders to monitor your online activity and collect sensitive data like browsing history, search queries, favorite pages, etc. After this information is processed, this parasite will make sure to flood your screen with targeted advertisements that aim to grab your attention and make you click on them.

For each click you make, the PUP will get paid. Even if you try to ignore all the promotions or browse the internet via Incognito mode, the problem will persist. In fact, the PUP will get more and more aggressive. Soon, your browser will start to underperform, and feel very sluggish. You’ll experience difficulties to do any kind of work online. Your only salvation is the removal of the Similar Photo Cleaner extension.

This utility has an official website that you can download it from. But that’s not the only way for it to get installed on your computer. You might unknowingly give it access to your device by clicking on shady ads or following suspicious links. Spam emails and free software bundles are other ways for it to penetrate your computer system. Other means of distribution include torrent files and fake update messages.

It is important for you to know that hackers rely on your naivety and haste, in order to infect your computer. Do not rush into following random ads or links, without giving it a second thought. You might think that you’re being led to reliable sources, but next thing you know, you could fall victim to a malicious software.

We recommend using only licensed and official sources to get your software updates. Also, after downloading software, we strongly suggest that you opt for a Custom/Advanced type of installation, instead of a Quick one. Then, make sure to deselect any optional installations, so they don’t get installed. Malware is known to get disguised as bonus content that gets automatically installed on your PC if you choose a Quick installation.

You do not need a program such as Similar Photo Cleaner. From the moment it gets installed on your device, this malicious app will start to spy on you. Any collected data will be used against you and could be used by crooks, who seek to sell this data to other suspicious third-party websites. What’s more, its existence will prove to be a problem for the performance of your web browser too. Do not let it do severe damages.

Your browsing experience will not be the same if you allow this PUP to stay on your computer unattended. The sooner you act against it, the better. By removing the parasite that brought you the Similar Photo Cleaner app, you’ll regain control over your browser and protect your private data. If you’re not sure how to proceed, we can help you.
